The Four Hour Workweek
Cliché as it is The 4 Hour Work Week had a huge impact on me as I found it at exactly the right time and followed it.
The One Thing
Recently “The One Thing” has had a large impact on how I look at what I’m doing.
The Ultimate Sales Letter
In terms of having a marketing foundation I think anyone who’s selling anything with words and has not read “The Ultimate Sales Letter” by Dan kennedy is shooting themselves in the foot.
Started from -$6 and built a 7 figure agency. Now growing @LeadFuze & Co-Host of @ZeroToScale. I talk #entrepreneurship at http://justinmcgill.net
The Ultimate Sales Machine
This book had a profound impact on me as a founder, without previous sales experience. It taught me how to not only think like a sales person, but implement plans and procedures like a sales manager. It covers it all and Chet gives great examples throughout the book.
A B2B book with amazing story telling. Gives several examples of how to launch a product using his “Product Launch Formula”. How to setup your drip campaigns, when to provide the offer, etc.
The Lean Startup
So many times I see startup founders trying to “go big or go home” without ever knowing if their business idea is even legitimate. Some of the principles taught in this book and completely changed how businesses are built and even how businesses are invested in.

Just Fucking Ship
Written by my friend and colleague Amy Hoy, Just Fucking Ship is a short, actionable read on how to get started shipping your ideas and projects. Be it a new consulting offering, a book, a course, or a product, the lessons that she teaches in Just Fucking Ship are the same principles that helped me launch Double Your Freelancing Rate and grow my business.
The Brain Audit
“Why customers buy and why they don’t.” This is a must read for any consultant or business owner who writes proposals, sales pages, or marketing copy. In it, Sean D’Souza explains the ‘7 bags’ that you need to address for the reader before they’re ready to buy. I use Sean’s advice whenever I write a sales page.
The Positioning Manual
One of the best books written on positioning for technical agencies (and consultants). (I had a conversation with Philip about positioning on my podcast, The Business of Freelancing that’s a great addition to reading the book)
